C. studied painting at the collége in Nancy and had already taken part in many exhibitions in Europe and the USA before he also began exhibiting at the Salon d'automne in Paris. The versatile artist created landscapes, portraits and still lifes, but was also active as a stage and poster artist, including for Josephine Baker.
