1913. Lithograph. 19 x 14,5 cm. Lo. le. sign. the stone N. Goncharova, verso text in blue ink, matted and framed under glass. Min. tearing to the edge. - Russian artist and stage/costume designer; one of the main proponents of Rayonism together with her partner Mikhail Larionov. G. studied in Moscow under P. Troubetzkoy and moved in the circles of the Russian avant-garde. In 1914, she and Larionov moved to Paris. Her works drew on a variety of stylistic influences such as Cubism, Fauvism and Futurism. G. is additionally known for her creative designs for Diaghilev's Ballet amongst others as well as for her work as a book illustrator. G. exhibited widely throughout her career. Exhibitions included the Salon des Artistes Indépendents in Paris, as well as a show held by 'Der Blaue Reiter' in Munich in 1911. Mus.: New York (Guggenheim) Lit.: Bénézit
