KPM Berlin. Model from 1912, made 1914-18. Porcelain. H. (with lid) 20,5 cm, diam. (with handles) 28 cm. Sceptre mark (u'glazedblue), orb and KPM (iron red), iron cross (black). Painted with mat gold. - Literature: I. von Treskow: Die Jugendstil-Porzellane der KPM Berlin, Passau 1971, ill. 84/85. - German painter and ceramist. Education at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich, then at the Munich Art Academy. 1897 co-founder of the Vereinigte Werkstätten in Munich. 1908-26 artistic director of the KPM Berlin. Schmuz-Baudiss ranks as one of the most productive artists of Art Nouveau, he was responsable for numerous drafts for furniture design and ceramics.
