R.-S. moved to Germany in his youth and studied at the Hamburg Baukreis from 1949-52, among others with A. Fiedler. Starting from the abstract tendencies of his teacher, R.-S. developed an independent form of tachisme from 1955 onwards, which is characterised by a special feeling for colour.
