Oil/wood, 34 x 27 cm, on the reverse old labels with attributions to Frans Hals and Willem van Mieris. - Dutch portrait and history painter. B. was taught painting in Leeuwarden until 1633 and thereafter settled in Amsterdam. Although influences of Rembrandt are visible in B.s work he most probably was no pupil of him.
