Oil/canvas, 41,5 x 80 cm, lo. ri. sign. Imandt, min. rest. - Dutch-Indonesian landscape painter. After military service in Amsterdam 1901 I. became teacher a. worked in his home village, but also took drawing lessons in The Hague. In 1908 he went to Sulawesi, in 1910 he settled on Java. There he met Isaac Israels in the 1920s, who repeatedly visited the Dutch colony. When returning to the Netherlands in 1929 I. was celebrated as the leading painter of Indonesia.
