B. was an Italian illustrator, painter and stage designer. He studied under R. Sorbi in Florence. From 1901 he continued his studies in Paris under G. Costetti and Jean Léon Gérôme amongst others. During his career B. worked as an illustrator for newspapers, magazines and fashion publications such as La Gazette du Bon Ton. He also built a reputation as a stage/costume designer and worked for several theatres including Les Folies Bergères and La Scala in Milan. B. also worked as an interior designer, caricaturist and portraitist, exhibiting at the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the 1933 Paris exhibition of Italian art. Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Bénézit
