Polish painter. O. learned painting from J. P. Norblin in Warsaw. He participated in the Polish uprising against Russia in 1794 and found a patron in J. Poniatowski. In 1801 he settled in St. Petersburg and became a member of the Academy there in 1809. Mus.: St. Petersburg (Hermitage), Warsaw (Nat. Mus.), Bremen, Riga a. others. Lit.: Thieme-Becker.
