German expressionist painter. J. studied in Wroclaw and since 1908 at the Dresden academy. In 1913 he settled in Berlin, joined the secession in 1915 and was made member of the academy in 1919. In 1933 he was appointed professor. Mus.: Berlin (Nat.-Gal.), Ahrenshoop. Lit.: Thieme-Becker a. others.
