Carl Friedrich Schulz (Selchow 1796 - Neuruppin 1866, also Jagd-Schulz) - Artist


Landscape and hunting painter, S. studied at the Berlin and Düsseldorf academies. He fought 1815 in the French Revolutionary Wars, travelled France, England and the Netherlands where he copied Old Master paintings for the Berlin National Gallery. He became professor in Berlin in 1840 but moved to Russia in 1847 to work for the tsar. Mus.: Berlin (Nat-Gal.), Munich, Weimar, Kaliningrad. Lit.: Thieme-Becker, Bénézit.
