Oil/canvas, 41 x 78 cm, min. rest., cradled. - Provenance: Private collection Niedersachsen. - Flemish landscape, animal and flower painter. S. was a pioneer of animal painting, his flowers painting rival those of J. Brueghel I and A. Bosschaert I. In 1604 he became painter to the imperial court in Prague where he remained until 1615. In 1619 he became master of the St. Luke's guild in Utrecht. Mus.: St. Petersburg (Hermitage), London (Nat.
