J. h., some rest., relined. - A composition similar in dimensions, with a pigeon resting in the middle, a pheasant looking back and the shard of a ceramic handled vessel is in the Landesmuseum Hannover. - Provenance: Swedish private collection. - The most important Dutch painter of poultry in the 17th century. Originating from a family of artists, H. was taught painting by his fathers Gysbert a. his uncle Jan Baptist Weenix.
