Meissen, around 1740-50, the original firegilded bronzemount made around 1750 probably in Paris. The lady and the gentleman, both in stage costumes, are sitting in intimate embracement on a base with sculptural flower work. Prof. rest. Overall height 19 cm. - Literature: The model is analysed detailed by A. von Wallwitz, Celebrating Kaendler, München 2006, p. 80-83. - German porcelain modeller and sculptor, taught by the sculptor Thomae in Dresden, whose baroque influence is especially visible in his animal figures, in 1731 appointed court sculptor by August the Strong, at the same time beginning his work for porcelain manufacture Meissen, which he directs for many years, his works are among the highlights of early European porcelain.
