China, Song-dynasty (960-1279) or earlier. White marble. Standing figure of a bodhisattva in long flowing robes falling symetrically to his bare feet. Long chains of clustered beads hang from his neck and are threaded through a large medallion at the waist. His head adorned by a crown and framed by two halos. They eyer half closed he is smilimg mildly. H. 106 cm.
