Oil/canvas, 110,5 x 61 cm, up. ri. sign. C. Lambertz, on the reverse titled 'Der Gaukler' as well as dat. 1959-60. - German painter a. graphic artist. L. was trained as church painter since 1925. Although a well-known antifascist he was admitted to the Düsseldorf academy in 1936; he was taught by W. Heuser a. W. Schmurr. In 1942 he studio in Düsseldorf was bombed a. he settled in Schleswig-Holstein, where he became head o the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Künstlerbund in 1951. With G. Betterman a. others he founded the artist's group 'Gruppe 56'. In 1963 he taught at the Kunsthochschule Kiel.
