Japan, Meiji-period (1868-1912). Stoneware with rich painting on an ivory coloured glaze. Tall ovoid body with plastical pommels and domed cover. At the wall and the cover large reserves with scenes from Buddha"s Amazing Disciples, the so-called Rakans (chines. Luohan, skt. Arhat) on an ornamental fan-underground. On top of the cover a sculptural lion. Partly rest. H. 80 cm.
