Oil/cardboard, 87 x 58,5 cm, lo. ri. cyrillic monogr. and dat. GDG 67. - Russian portrait painter and sculptor. G. studied architecture in Leningrad since 1929 and sculpture at the local academy since 1935. Many of his statues and busts, mostly of musicians, were installed in public spaces of many Russian towns. His only exhibitions of paintings in 1968 however provoced a scandal which banned him from official cultural life of the Sowjet Union. In 1980 he could emigrate to Germany.
