Color offset, 9,5 x 14,5 cm, lo. ri. sign. Jasper Johns, matted and framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - American painter, graphic artist, sculptor and stage designer. J. studied 1947-49 in New York where he met R. Rauschenberg and J. Cage in 1952. Since 1954 he worked as free lance artist, in 1958 he had his first solo exhibition and some of his works were acquired by the MoMA in New York. His fame also spread through Europe where he exhibited at the Venice Biennale and repeatedly at the Documenta. His paintings, integrating motifs of everyday objects are considered to stand between abstract expressionism and pop art.
