The beggar at the margin proofs the contrast not to be a merely antique or theoretical one. - Provenance: Christie's London, 2.8.1968, lot no. 194; Dorotheum Wien, 18.6.1985, lot no. 703; Wiener Kunstauktionen, 2.12.1993, lot no. 19; Dorotheum Wien, 9.6.1999, lot no. 224; private collection Sweden. - Flemish landscape, still life and history painter.
