Oil/wood, 36 x 26 cm, on the reverse two seals, possibly Russian, one of them with crowned double-headed eagle, several inventory numbers, at least one of them Russian. - Animal and still life painter from a family of artists. H. was painter to the court of the prince-bishop of Augsburg and to the court of Baden-Baden. Like O. M. van Schrieck and E. van den Broeck he specialized in forest floor still lifes with reptils, amphibians and insects, but painted also birds and horses.
