Burma wood, flat reverse, without paint, h. 53 cm, w. 26 cm, sign. at lower left 'FLATH'. - German wooden sculptor, painter and draftsman. 1922 - 1924 apprenticeship by the ivory carver Karl Schneider, 1928 - 1930 education at the Kiel School of Art and Crafts, then at the Hamburg State School of Art. Since 1932 as a freelancer in Kiel and foundation of the art association Kiel. Numerous works in Hamburg. His extensive oeuvre contains more than 3000 sculptures and 40 retables.
