2nd half 17th cent., oil/canvas, 38,5 x 46 cm, some retouchings, relined. - The painting takes up a subject of a Wouwerman painting in the Kassel Gemäldegalerie. - Dutch landscape, battle and horse painter from a family of artists. Nothing is positively known about his education; in 1640 he became member of the Haarlem St. Luke's guild. W. was among the most versatile and sought-after painters of his time, his painted horses are among the best in the history of art.
