He studied 1877-82 at the Vienna academy among others under C. von Blaas a. Ch. Griepenkerl. He created many altar paintings a. church frescoes but became most popular with lovely depictions of graceful young woman, subjects reproduced in great number for bedrooms in the early 20th cent.
