Oil/canvas, 108,5 x 142 cm, lo. ri. sign. a. dat. M. Delfs 1854, on the stretcher fragment of a label inscribed 'Schlacht von Kolding'. - German animal, landscape a. battle painter. D. was trained as lithographer before studying at the Vienna academy since 1848. He returned that same year to participate in the Schleswig-Holstein war. Together with Wilhelm Busch he went to Antwerp in 1852. He was a war artist in the Franco-Prussian war 1870/71.
