Schwinge 1897, on the backing cardboard inscribed 'Harz', uninspected out of frame. - Hamburg landscape painter, famous for his motifs from Hamburg and the Lüneburg heath. S. studied at the Düsseldorf academy under P. Janssen a. E. Dücker. His most important commissions were paintings for the steamship 'König Friedrich August' of the Hamburg-Süd Shipping company.
