China, Republic Period (1912-1949). Porcelain with polychrome painting. Decorated with a revolving winter scene, front depicting a fisherman in a boat with snow covered mountains in the background. The inscription above dates the vase 'bing zi' (1936). Base marked with artists seal 'Xuren chu pin'. H. 37 cm. - He Xuren (許人何, 1882-1940) was a Chinese porcelain painter, famous for his winter landscapes. He was member of 'The Eight Friends of Zhushan', an artist group featuring the best porcelain painters during the Republic period.
