Gandhara-region/Pakistan, 3rd/4th cent. Grey schist. Large rectangular frieze stone. At the front a deep relief with central Buddha as the historical Siddharta underneath the Bodhi tree, dressed in a richly draped costume and with crossed legs. His hands performing the gesture of Knowledge (Vajra Mudra). Left of him an adoration group. Right of him 2 disciples in similar pose. The overall group framed by an acanthus frieze and 2 outer side columns, each with another depiction of a bodhisattva. 27,5 x 46,5 cm.
