Oil/canvas, 97 x 73 cm, in the lower corners accession no. of the Ermitage, some rest., relined. - Prov.: Acquired by tsar Paul I or tsarina Catherine II before 1797; collection of tsar Paul I either in the Pavlovsk palace or in the Marble palace in St. Petersburg as Lazzaro Baldi, accession no. 3311-140; in 1854 sold from the collection of the hermitage by tsar Nicholas I; West European private collection. - We are grateful to Dr. Tatiana Bushmina from the hermitage for identifying the painting in the accession records of the collection. According to Dr. Bushmina the second part of the accession no. suggests that the painting was temporarily either in the Pavlosk palace or in the Marble palace.
