Lot-Nr. 710 |

A rare nodding-head figurine "Member of the Imperial Court" | Reserveprice 4.600 €

China, end of 18th cent. (Qing-dynasty 1644-1911). Ceramic with polychrome painting. Standing figurine with movable head. Min. rest. H. 34 cm. - The naturalistically modelled figurines were very fashionable among high-class European collectors since the 2nd half of the 18th cent. They clearly demonstrate the fascination of the late Rococo period for the Chinese culture. Similar figurines can be found at Drottningholm Palace (Sweden), Brighton Pavilion (UK) or in the Royal Danish Collection. See: Dam-Mikkelsen/Lundbaek, Ethnographic Objects in the Royal Danish Kunstkammer 1650-1800, Copenhagen 1980, pp. 173-179.
