Meissen, middle of 18th cent. Corded wall with delicate flower relief in the Gotzkowsky-style. Painting with fine botanical flowers and on both sides the coat of arms of later Tzar Peter III. as a part of the St. Andrew"s order. Gold border and cover with flower pommel. Crossed swords in u"glaze blue. H. 13,5 cm. - The Andreas service was a present of the Saxonian elector August III. to the Russian Tzarina Elisabeth on the occasion of her nephew"s marriage, later Tzar Peter III. It is among the most important diplomatic services of the Meissen workshop and demonstrated the important role of porcelain in the historical context of the 18th century.
