Burma, middle of 19th cent. Dry lacquer, gilt and decorated with polychrome glass inlays. Seated figurine of Buddha in Mandalay-style on a four-sided base. The legs crossed and the right hand pointing towards the earth (bhumiparsamudra). The serene face with downcast and contemplative expression. The traditional garment (uttarasanga) draped around the body and lined with sparkling glass inlays. Gilding slightly worn. H. 85,5 cm.
