According to Prof. Ruggeri it is one of the best paintings of the mature period of the artist from circa 1675-80. - Important venetian portrait painter, after early training in Udine he continued his studies in the workshop of Guercino in Bologna, he moved to Venice where he copied Veronese but was also influenced by the Florentine Sustermans, his portraits are considered to be the climax of their genre in late baroque Venice, numerous commissions for the courts of Florence, Munich, Vienna a.
