Otto Brausewetter Berlin 1892", min. rest. - The painting is inspired by Rubens "Crucifixion" in the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp. The painting at hand may be the "Christ on the cross" mentioned in Thieme-Becker. - History painter, studied at the Königsberg academy, among others under M. Pietrowski a. A. Behrendsen, worked in Frankfurt, Munich a. Königsberg before he settled in Berlin where he became professor in 1882, numerous commissions for public buildings, partly in collaboration with A.W.
