Meissen, French bronze mount. Designed around 1750, made 2nd half 18th cent. Porcelain, painted in colour and gold, ormolu mounts with wire tendrils and lacquered ivy leaves and delicate porcelain flowers. Overall height around 34,5 cm, figures: H. around 20-22 cm. Min. rest., varnish of ivy leaves slightly worn. As part of the Chinoiserie fashion in the Rococo period, Kaendler modelled the "bouncing Chinese boy with cabbage leaf hat", which can also be found in part as a wobbling pagoda with a movable head. Parisian luxury goods dealers created a new fashion in the 18th century and combined Meissen porcelain figurines with fire-gilt bronze mountings and French porcelain flowers to create decorative ensembles that enjoyed great popularity, especially in France -
